Technical Lead – High-Speed Hardware Integration
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to oversee outsourced hardware design and integration activities, including the development of custom ASICs and high-performance network interface cards. You will be responsible for leading the definition, specification closure, design reviews, and verification of complex hardware systems, ensuring seamless integration into advanced photonics-based equipment platforms. This role demands strong technical direction, supplier management, and program/risk oversight in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of highly complex custom integrated circuits (ICs) for advanced photonics modules targeting data centre applications.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for outsourced design partners, ensuring alignment with system-level requirements and delivery milestones.
- Define and close hardware specifications; manage and participate in design reviews; approve technical deliverables.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation, verification, and system integration.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues at both board and system levels.
- Manage supplier relationships and support hardware bring-up and production readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, RF, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Maintain detailed documentation of application requirements, test procedures, and design changes.
- Drive risk management, change control, and issue resolution throughout the hardware development lifecycle.
Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in hardware integration, preferably within RF, photonics, or optical systems.
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, signal processing, and control loop design.
- Deep knowledge of high-speed ADC and DAC specifications for hardware control.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
